Once you have completed an online or onsite teaching certificate course with Teaching English in Italy learn more about Italian life and culture by living with an Italian family with Geovisions. Paying volunteers are needed to help Italian host families (in both northern and southern Italy) with conversational English in exchange for free room and board.
For this program, we recommend signing up for the Onsite TESOL in Florence, Online TESOL Certificate or the Online TESOL 1 + TEYL, or TESOL 2 + TEYL.
Native English speakers work 15 hours per week (literally a couple of hours a day Monday-Friday) and are normally free to travel during time-off and on the weekends. The main focus of this program is on cultural exchange and host families are not only excited to learn English but also interested in sharing the characteristics of their country, culture and cuisine with you. As a volunteer, you will have contact with your host family before arrival through email and phone calls. Basic knowledge of Italian is helpful but not necessary.
Teaching conversational English to an Italian family is also an excellent way to acquire more knowledge about Italian culture through teaching English and a great way to gain teaching experience as a Private Language Tutor before or after completing an online or onsite Teaching Certificate through Teaching English in Italy.
Volunteers must:
Placements are available year ‘round and range in duration from one to three months. Teachers must arrive to their host family’s home on any Friday.
In some cases, there will be opportunities to take part in family activities and to meet extended family or enjoy excursions with your Italian host family to landmarks and the hidden gems of Italy.
For more information about teaching conversational English while living with an Italian family throughout the year, contact Geovisions Conservation Corps directly.

“Sheila, thank you so much for your help during the course! I really appreciate all of the useful comments you left me. Your suggestions were great, especially since I was doing this course on my own, without the input of other classmates (it is hard to think of everything on your own in a vacuum!). I also appreciate the fact that you turned around my assignments so quickly. As I had told you at the beginning, I had a certain date in mind to finish and, guess what? I did it!
Grazie ancora!

“I didn’t really believe I would be capable of teaching a class in only four weeks. The course definitely proved me wrong!”
