Once you have completed an online or onsite teaching certificate course with Teaching English in Italy consider working in Italy as an English Camp Tutor in an enjoyable, interactive atmosphere where Italian children can learn and improve their knowledge of the English language during summer camp with The English Camp Company.
For this program, we recommend signing up for either the Onsite TESOL in Florence, the Online TESOL Certificate or the online TESOL 1 + TEYL or TESOL 2 + TEYL course, especially if you have a particular interest in Teaching English to Young Learners.
Tutors earn a stipend of 175 euros a week. Tutors do not have to pay anything to be part of The English Camp Company program except for transportation to Assisi. Upon arrival in Assisi, everything is provided. All applicants must have valid health insurance.
Tutors for The English Camp Company are generally people who like working with children, want to work in the field of education, and those who want to learn more about Italian culture through teaching English. Working as an English camp tutor in Italy is also an excellent way to acquire more teaching experience with young learners before or after completing an online or onsite Teaching Certificate through Teaching English in Italy.
Camp Tutors are required to prepare a lesson plan for their morning English Classes. In the afternoon, camp tutors work together to organize an afternoon activity for the young learners. These activities vary from camp to camp and are based on tutors likes and dislikes; sports, game shows, and cultural activities from the tutors’ home countries. Tutors work from 9am – 5pm (Monday through Friday) teaching and speaking English to Elementary and Middle school students (7-14 year olds) in a fun, relaxed summer camp environment.
The English Camp Company program includes a weeklong orientation in Assisi, which begins the second week of June (accommodation at a hotel is paid for during orientation by The English Camp Company). After orientation, lodging and meals with an Italian family are part of your compensation. Tutors are requested to stay for at least 2 weeks and can stay up to 10 weeks teaching in the program.
