Once you have completed an online or onsite teaching certificate course with Teaching English in Italy, teach English to Italian children through a non-profit organization recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education from early June to mid-September with Lingue Senza Frontiere.
For this program, we recommend signing up for the Onsite TESOL in Florence, the Online TESOL Certificate or either the TESOL 1 + TEYL or TESOL 2 + TEYL certificate course.
Tutors earn a stipend of 450 euros net per 2-week camp + full board and lodgings. Camp programs are available from 2 to 6 weeks.
Working as an English camp tutor in Italy is an excellent way to acquire more teaching experience with young learners before or after completing an online or onsite Teaching Certificate through Teaching English in Italy.
Camp Tutors should be native English speakers with a bubbly character and possess a genuine interest in working with children. Preference is given to candidates with a TEFL certificate or equivalent. Flexibility, punctuality, tidiness, enthusiasm, creativity, leadership ability, teaching skills and management of outdoor activities are required on the part of tutors. Knowledge of Italian is not required but useful.
Tutors are also required to use the English program provided for morning lessons (including grammar and functions) as requested by Italian schools. During the rest of the day, tutors are engaged in games, songs, sports, drama, art and handicraft activities with their students. Tutors work from 8:45 to 4:15 (Monday through Friday) with Italian children aged 7-14 in an English speaking environment. The purpose is to create a valuable, memorable and above all, fun experience for young learners of English without flying to an English speaking country.
The Lingue Senza Frontiere (LSF) program includes a free 4-day intensive training course with materials before the summer camps begin. During the intensive course, LSF will provide accommodation, materials, food and everything relating your camp tutor experience. To be considered as a tutor, applicants must be able to attend the training course in Italy before the camps begin. LSF will cover your traveling expenses within Italy from one camp to another. Full board (three meals a day) and lodging usually with Italian host familes is included along with insurance against accidents connected with the camps while working. Traveling expenses to and from Italy are NOT included.
Camp locations are available throughout Italy, but mainly in the north.
